What Matters Most for You Today

Imagine you’re on a airplane and the flight attendant instructs you to put your oxygen mask on first, before helping others. Because if you run out of oxygen, you can't help anyone else with their oxygen mask. To sustain life on the pressurized airplane we must take follow the Life Support Instructions. For COVID-19 we must follow the latest CDC Life Support Instructions How to Protect Yourself is the most important thing we individually can do to flatten the curve of the epidemic so that our health systems can cope and to give time for the scientists to research vaccines and treatments.

  • Starts with your health and a strong immune system. The experts recommend a firm foundation of quality sleep, exercising and quality nutrition.

  • The health of loved ones, starting with the people at risk, to prevent or delay the ER visit.

  • The health and support of any healthcare workers Nursers, Doctors and all the support.

  • Essential critical infrastructure workers during COVID-19

How to avoid getting sick

We normally share law practice insight, however given the current pandemic what matters most is the insights from the experts in health we wish to amplify. Dean Ornish, M.D insights is focused other half of the equation: how to enhance your immune system so that if you are exposed, you can reduce the chances of getting sick—or at least mitigate the intensity of the disease and thus reduce the death rate.

Our takeaway is the 4 pillars of the preventative medicine to stay out of the healthcare system. We’ve added some practical suggestions for each pillar.

  • Love More- help others, share, empathize, focus on family, call, text/Skype with others daily, play words with friends (or similar), have a heart to be happy/content.

  • Stress Less- stay calm, work out a solution to challenges, have faith, trust in yourself and others, attitude-you’re not stuck or trapped at home-home is where the heart is-clean, do home projects-be grateful.

  • Eat Well- eat healthy, high fiber, protein, portion control.

  • Move Move Move more- go for a walk, engage in more activities with family, get creative with activities, play hide and seek, turn off the TV, dance.

“Finding meaning in situations, especially bad ones, also helps enhance our immune system. With all the tragedy of the coronavirus, is there anything meaningful that comes from it? First, for those of us who work too much, being at home and being told not to go to work or to travel gives everyone a valid rationale to spend more time with our friends and family, both in-person with those you live with and also virtually with others. No FOMO if everything is canceled. You don’t have to give an excuse at work to stay home. Also, having a common enemy can help heal some of the wounds that divide our country. These are profoundly human issues that affect everyone in all states, both red and blue.
